Vietnam’s auto sales topped 156,700 vehicles in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent, the Vietnam News Agency reported Friday, citing the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.
Passenger vehicles remained the dominant segment with over 103,800 units sold, up 13 percent, while commercial vehicle sales rose 32 percent to 50,270 units, according to the report.
Particularly, hybrid sales during the five months surged 80 percent year on year to 8,518 vehicles, emerging as one of the strongest growth drivers in the country’s vehicle electrification trend.
