Eighty-four homes in Taman Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, that were affected by the April 1 gas pipeline explosion, are still being assessed for safety and extent of damage, Putra Heights Gas Pipeline Explosion Disaster Recovery Committee member Dato’ Johary Anuar said the last tally was logged on June 16.
“As many as 101 homes in the area are covered under a reconstruction and repair project, with 13 units to be rebuilt, four to be repaired, and 84 are still being assessed,” he said.
Johary added that the project is being carried out by Sime Darby Property based on original specifications of the homes. Cleanup is ongoing, with it set to be done by June 2027.
Meanwhile, Johary said the reconstruction and repair of 17 homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru will be done by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, 11 of which will be rebuilt.
“Demolition is complete. Reconstruction and repair is being carried out, expected to be done by October,” he said.
On Monday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations into the April 1 gas pipeline explosion found no elements of foul play, negligence or sabotage.
Police subsequently classified the incident as “no further action”, but said the probe will be reactivated if new evidence or testimony turns up.
