Bank Muamalat Adjusts Rates After BNM’s OPR Cut

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd has announced a corresponding adjustment to its financing and deposit rates, effective July 14, 2025, in response to Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) decision to lower the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) by 25 basis points to 2.75% on July 9.

The bank’s revised rates are as follows:

  • Standardised Base Rate (SBR): From 3% to 2.75% per annum
  • Base Rate (BR): From 3.81% to 3.56% per annum
  • Base Financing Rate (BFR): From 6.81% to 6.56% per annum

These revisions will apply to all floating-rate financing products linked to the SBR, BR and BFR. In tandem with the financing rate adjustments, deposit rates under the Fixed Term Account-i will also be revised to reflect the new rate environment.

Bank Muamalat President and Chief Executive Officer Khairul Kamarudin said the move is in line with the central bank’s monetary policy shift aimed at supporting Malaysia’s economic growth.

“Bank Muamalat will continue to manage its assets and liabilities responsibly while supporting the current economic growth initiatives and meeting stakeholders’ expectations,” he said in a statement.
