Kawan Renergy Bhd (Kenergy) has secured a RM38.8 million clean energy contract through its wholly owned subsidiary, Kawan Green Energy Sdn Bhd, from Gas Malaysia Energy Advance Sdn Bhd.
The contract involves the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a gas turbine co-generation system in Port Klang, Selangor.
The project, scheduled for completion within 20 months, will simultaneously generate electricity and thermal energy, offering higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Executive Director Heng Siew Aun shared that with rising electricity costs and increasing pressure to decarbonise, co-generation is gaining traction for its dual benefits of cost savings and reduced carbon footprint.
“As such, the group aims to further strengthen its presence in the clean energy space by targeting high-efficiency projects aligned with Malaysia’s green energy ambitions,” Heng said.
With this latest win, Kenergy’s outstanding order book has risen to RM130.9 million, enhancing earnings visibility over the next two years.
