Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Terengganu and the East Coast region have been encouraged to adopt Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices and implement e-Invoicing to support long-term business sustainability and digital transformation.
The call was made during the Siri Kelestarian PMKS 2025, organised by SME Corp Malaysia from July 16 to 17, featuring workshops and seminars designed to guide MSMEs in integrating ESG principles into daily operations.
The ESG 2025 Workshop: Dari Teori ke Amali introduced participants to the practical application of sustainability principles using the Panduan Pantas ESG untuk MSMEs published by SME Corp. Malaysia. The adoption of ESG is seen as a key to accessing new markets and green financing, while ensuring MSMEs remain competitive in existing supply chains.
A seminar on e-Invoicing was also held, focusing on educating firms about the LHDN-compliant system and providing hands-on guidance through the MyInvois portal. SME Corp Malaysia CEO, Rizal Dato’ Nainy, stressed, “The implementation of e-Invoicing aligns with ESG governance practices by improving transparency and compliance in financial reporting.”
He added that it supports Malaysia’s aim for better financial administration and advised MSMEs to “take small steps with confidence” toward building more resilient businesses.
The programme concluded with the PMKS@Terengganu Open Day on July 17, officiated by Dato’ Ariffin Deraman, featuring exhibitions, advisory counters and business networking sessions involving agencies such as TEKUN Nasional, SME Bank, YPU and Celcom.
The event served as a unified platform connecting government officials, entrepreneurs, financial institutions and industry experts from bodies including MAPAN and PwC Malaysia to strengthen the local entrepreneurship ecosystem.
