Klang has launched its Royal City Tourism Action Plan 2035, a visionary roadmap aimed at elevating the district into a globally recognised tourism destination. Spanning from 2025 to 2035, the plan addresses not only physical infrastructure but also strategic management, heritage preservation, public amenities, economic impact and sustainable development aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The initiative will enhance competitiveness across diverse tourism segments, including heritage and culture, shopping, ecotourism, agrotourism, sports and recreation, maritime activities, industrial visits and gastronomy. Upgrades promised under the action plan are expected to boost property values and investment appeal in Klang’s tourism sector.
Klang Mayor Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain unveiled the plan following a focus group discussion conducted by the Royal City Council. Overseeing input from government agencies, tourism operators, product developers and hoteliers, the session addressed identified gaps such as location challenges, basic infrastructure, urban aesthetics, cleanliness and conservation needs.
Referring to the Klang Royal City Local Plan 2035 (Amendment 1), Mayor Hamid emphasised the importance of the tourism sector in underpinning Klang’s royal heritage and historic offerings. He reiterated that the action plan is integral to transforming Klang’s tourism areas into a resilient, inclusive and sustainable destination of international standard.
