Rimbunan Sawit Berhad has announced the appointment of Datuk Tiong Thai King, 80, as its new Non-Executive Chairman. The appointment, effective August 4, 2025.
Datuk Tiong, holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Physics from Nanyang University, Singapore. Since 1975, he has been an integral part of the Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies, where he currently serves as Group Managing Director. He is also the Executive Chairman and Founder of the Mafrica Group of Companies.
In addition to his corporate roles, Datuk Tiong is actively involved in several non-government organizations. He serves as the Chairman of Sibu Agape Centre, Deputy Chairman of Persatuan Klan Zhang Negeri Sarawak, and Chairman of The United Association of Private Chinese Secondary School, Board of Management Sibu.
Datuk Tiong is the brother of Tan Sri Datuk Sir Diong Hiew King, a major shareholder of Rimbunan Sawit Berhad. Furthermore, he is the uncle to Mr. Tiong Chiong Ong, Mr. Tiong Chiong Ie, and Mr. Tiong Chiong Ee, who serve as the Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, respectively. He also holds a directorship in the Rimbunan Hijau Foundation.
