All primary and secondary schools under the Lubok Antu and Kanowit District Education Offices (PPDs) were temporarily closed today following worsening haze conditions.
The Sarawak Education Department (JPN) said the decision was based on Air Pollutant Index (API) readings recorded in the areas at 9am today.
“As such, the home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) session will be implemented,” it said in a statement today.
For schools in the two districts where API readings exceed 200, school heads and principals may also consider implementing PdPR to safeguard students’ health and safety.
“If the API readings show a downward trend (readings below 200), then they can take steps to prepare for the reopening of schools,” it added.
