Malaysia’s MIMOS Drives Semiconductor Growth With Bangladesh Partnership

MIMOS Services Sdn Bhd (MSSB), the commercial arm of MIMOS Bhd under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BMCCI). The MoU is to advance technology transfer, talent development and research collaboration in the semiconductor sector.

The MoU was signed by MSSB Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Fauzi Bin Yahaya and BMCCI President Shabbir Khan, witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening Malaysia-Bangladesh diplomatic and economic relations, while laying the groundwork for future cooperation in emerging technologies.

Under the MoU, MSSB will lead initiatives focused on developing specialised training programmes for Bangladeshi talent in integrated circuit design, semiconductor technology, embedded systems and product test engineering. The partnership will also facilitate knowledge exchange, share best practices and foster collaborations with Bangladeshi companies to boost local technological capabilities.

A key focus of the collaboration is talent retention within Bangladesh’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem, ensuring continued expertise and innovation. This strategic alliance aligns with Malaysia’s national agenda to grow its Electrical & Electronics (E&E) sector globally, while opening investment opportunities for Malaysian companies abroad.

Simultaneously, it supports Bangladesh’s ambition to become a high-income nation by cultivating a skilled workforce and accelerating industrial development.
