Blackmores will introduce an AI-powered medical decision support tool at the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Congress 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, aiming to help healthcare professionals manage drug-supplement interactions more effectively.
The digital platform, known as the Complementary Medical Interaction Guide, provides real-time, evidence-based insights to enable practitioners to make safer, informed decisions at the point of care. Developed by the Blackmores Institute, it marks the company’s move to integrate natural medicine more closely with mainstream medical practice.
One of the congress highlights will be a scientific symposium on June 21, titled “The Therapeutic Role of Complementary Medicine and the Critical Importance of Understanding Drug-Nutrient Interactions in Medical Practice.” It will be presented by Professor Lesley Braun, an adjunct professor and recognised expert in integrative medicine who has also advised the Australian government on health policy.
Market insights from Docquity cited ahead of the congress show that 62% of general practitioners in Malaysia currently recommend supplements to patients, while 37% acknowledge gaps in their understanding of supplement efficacy.
Blackmores said its wider objective is to strengthen professional education, research and medical partnerships so natural medicine can be used responsibly and effectively within patient care.
