Inland Revenue Board Malaysia (IRB) has launched e-Derma, a new online service enabling institutions and organisations to apply for tax exemption under subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967 via the MyTax portal.
The system, which went live on August 20, allows applications to be submitted digitally and approval status checked online, replacing the existing manual process of submitting written applications to the Director General of Inland Revenue.
As part of its digitalisation effort, IRB said the system will be extended to cover the Tabung category in the next phase. Until then, applications for Tabung will continue under existing procedures.
IRB added that the introduction of e-Derma is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and competitiveness of the national taxation system.
