Malaysia Congratulates Thailand’s New Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated his Thai counterpart Anutin Charnvirakul on being chosen to lead Thailand, expressing confidence in strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

In a message posted on X, Anwar said Malaysia looks forward to enhancing collaboration with Thailand, particularly in developing the shared border, advancing trade, and promoting the welfare of both nations’ peoples.

He underscored Thailand’s essential role in maintaining stability within ASEAN, adding that Anutin’s leadership would be crucial as the country progresses in its democratic journey.

Anutin, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, officially assumed the premiership after securing parliamentary approval, marking a new phase in Thailand’s political landscape.

Malaysia and Thailand, which share a 650-kilometre border, have longstanding cooperation in trade, security, and cultural exchange, with both governments recently reaffirming commitments to boost connectivity and economic integration.
