Avillion Berhad has announced the appointment of Mr. Lim Chai Hock as its new Non-Independent, Non-Executive Chairman, effective Sept 12, 2025.
Lim, 66, brings with him over four decades of experience in the coal and mining sector. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Director of PT Bayan Resources Tbk, one of Indonesia’s largest coal producers, where he is also a co-founder and sits on the boards of several subsidiaries within the Bayan Group.
Before co-founding the Bayan Group, Lim was Regional Manager at PT Jaya Sumpiles Indonesia between 1983 and 1998, overseeing coal mining infrastructure projects. He was later appointed Director of PT Gunungbayan Pratamacoal in 1998.
Lim holds a Certificate in Land Surveying from the Lembaga Jabatan Ukur.
According to Avillion’s filing with Bursa Malaysia, Lim has a 15% equity interest in the company. He also has a family connection within the group, as his daughter Ms. Lim Bay Gie is a director and major shareholder. The company confirmed that Lim has no conflict of interest with Avillion.
Avillion said Lim’s extensive leadership and industry experience are expected to strengthen the group’s strategic direction and governance.
