Malaysia is set to take the global stage in advancing workforce innovation as it hosts the Global Skills Forum (GSF) 2025 from Oct 22 to 23 at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. The event aims to redefine how industries, employers and governments collaborate to build future-ready talent for a rapidly changing global economy.
Organised by the Human Resource Development Corporation in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Organisation of Employers, and supported by the Human Resources Ministry, the two-day forum will convene global leaders, policymakers and industry experts to shape the future of skills and employment.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the forum alongside ILO Director-General Gilbert F Houngbo and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.
Held under the theme “The Role of the Private Sector in Skills Development: Driving Innovation and Impact”, GSF 2025 will highlight the private sector’s pivotal role in steering training priorities, promoting large-scale innovation and driving sustainable economic growth.
The forum also forms part of the ASEAN Year of Skills 2025, one of Malaysia’s signature initiatives during its ASEAN Chairmanship, aimed at bridging regional skills gaps, enhancing talent mobility and strengthening public-private partnerships across Southeast Asia.
Key discussions will explore digital transformation, the green economy, artificial intelligence and the emergence of new industries shaping the future of work.
Following the success of its 2024 edition in Geneva, GSF 2025 in Kuala Lumpur is expected to set a new benchmark for global collaboration in workforce development, positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in skills innovation, resilience and inclusive growth.
