The Johor Business Summit & Expo (JBSE) 2025 showcased Johor’s rising economic influence, with initiatives and investments collectively valued at over RM35 billion, reinforcing the state’s position as a key hub for ASEAN trade, innovation and sustainability.
The four-day summit brought together more than 5,000 participants, over 150 exhibitors and 30 speakers from Malaysia, Singapore and the broader ASEAN region. The event featured cross-border dialogues, investment forums and innovation showcases, facilitating over 200 business-matching engagements.
Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) highlighted its role in driving Johor’s development through catalytic projects including Medini, EduCity and Wawari, which have supported 30,000 high-value jobs and the growth of more than 200 multinational and domestic enterprises across sectors such as digital technology, green innovation and advanced services.
Key initiatives include the Medini Nexus and the Medini Soft Landing Programme (MSLP), which have attracted companies from Japan, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, providing fast-track market access, operational support and regional networks. The MSLP has assisted over 50 startups and SMEs, unlocking access to RM500 million in infrastructure and funding networks.
Talent development is anchored at EduCity, which supports more than 15,000 students and professionals annually across fields such as robotics, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing and digital engineering.
Sustainability also featured prominently, with 80% of developments in Medini certified under global green building standards. IIB aims to establish Malaysia’s first Net Zero Carbon Central Business District, promoting climate-aligned urban development to attract investment and build resilient communities.
The summit underscored Johor’s alignment with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), positioning the state as a gateway for regional and global business expansion.
“This strategic ecosystem enables investors to access a regional market of over 670 million consumers,” said Dato’ Idzham Mohd Hashim, President & CEO of IIB.
Idzham added, “Medini serves as the gateway connecting global enterprises to Johor and Southeast Asia, driving innovation, investment and inclusive growth.”
