Sunway University Unveils AI School To Power Sustainable Innovation

Sunway University has officially launched its School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, aiming to advance education and research in next-generation technologies while promoting sustainable and inclusive innovation. The launch coincided with the “AI for Sustainability: Bridging Innovation, Impact & Inclusion” forum, officiated by Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital.

The forum brought together leaders from academia, industry, government and civil society to explore how artificial intelligence can support Malaysia’s transition to a low-carbon, knowledge-driven economy and ensure technology drives both progress and equity.

Gobind said, “AI is shaping the way we work, study, and live — and it is vital to discuss how such technology can be harnessed responsibly for sustainability. Empowering our local talents is also essential in contributing to the objectives of Malaysia Digital (MD) and the broader vision of Malaysia MADANI. I’m delighted that Sunway University has launched the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, reflecting the University’s strong commitment to align higher education with Malaysia’s national digital, talent development, and sustainability agendas.”
