CelcomDigi, Unifi Take Lead In OpenSignal’s November Performance Report

Malaysia’s mobile operators delivered notable shifts in performance leadership this year, according to Opensignal’s Malaysia Mobile Network Experience Report – November 2025, which evaluates real-world mobile experience across the country.

The analysis—covering data from 1 August to 29 October 2025—examines how Malaysians actually experience their networks nationwide, from speed and reliability to 5G availability and overall quality. The report assessed the country’s five major mobile network operators: CelcomDigi, Maxis, Unifi, U Mobile, and Yes.

CelcomDigi emerged as the new leader in Consistent Quality, scoring 71.7% and surpassing Maxis by four percentage points. This award reflects how well a network supports demanding everyday applications such as video calls, streaming, and gaming.

Unifi was one of the report’s biggest winners: Fastest download speeds in Malaysia — 13% faster than U Mobile Best Voice App Experience — the only operator rated in the Good (80–87) category Strongest regional performance — 33 sole wins and 100 shared wins across states

Maxis continued its stronghold in Reliability Experience, scoring 874 points, well ahead of CelcomDigi and Unifi. This measure looks at the ability of users to consistently connect and complete essential mobile tasks without disruptions.

U Mobile secured the top spot for 5G Availability with 57.8%, outperforming Maxis by six percentage points. The gain comes amid U Mobile’s rapid growth following its 5G Standalone (SA) launch.

The report comes at a pivotal time for Malaysia’s telecommunications landscape, with major developments reshaping the sector:

U Mobile launched its 5G Standalone (SA) network in August 2025, aiming for 80% population coverage by the second half of 2026.

The Government has approved U Mobile as the builder of the second 5G network, complementing national wholesale provider Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).

DNB, together with Ericsson, introduced 5G Advanced capabilities, with Yes becoming the first MNO to offer it commercially.

Maxis recently accepted MCMC’s offer to purchase 2×10MHz of 2100MHz spectrum, which is expected to enhance 4G performance.
