Kaspersky has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) to enhance Malaysia’s cybersecurity education and prepare graduates for industry roles.
The three-year collaboration will focus on updating academic programmes, faculty development, technical knowledge exchange and capacity-building initiatives to improve readiness for cybersecurity positions.
The partnership will also feature technical talks and a Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS) competition, providing students and educators with hands-on exposure to incident response and real-world cyber defence scenarios.
Simon Tung, General Manager for ASEAN and AEC at Kaspersky, said, “Through this partnership with APU, we are investing in the foundations of enduring cyber resilience for both educators and students.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thang Ka Fei, Senior Head of APU’s School of Technology, highlighted that the collaboration aims to build a future-ready talent ecosystem that safeguards Malaysia’s digital growth.
This initiative aligns with Kaspersky Academy Alliance, which connects universities globally to bridge the cybersecurity knowledge gap through academic collaboration, research partnerships and practical skill-building programmes.
Kaspersky has previously collaborated with Malaysian universities such as Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kuala Lumpur, providing specialist training and practical exposure to cyber investigation, while also engaging with schools, NGOs and communities to promote digital resilience.
