The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said five India-linked projects worth RM23.85 million were approved in the first nine months of 2025, set to create over 270 new jobs for Malaysians.
MITI Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong said approvals reflect stronger economic momentum following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to India in 2024 and the subsequent Investment and Trade Mission to India in 2025.
He stressed the importance of maintaining strong investor confidence from India as both countries deepen economic engagement.
The mission included high-level roundtable sessions with major Indian industry leaders and discussions with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to unlock wider trade and investment opportunities.
Liew was responding to Datuk Seri I. Vell Paari A/L Tun Samy Vellu, who asked for an update on Malaysia–India investment progress and the impact on attracting major Indian corporations following the Prime Minister’s visit last year.
He noted that Malaysia is also finalising a Memorandum of Cooperation in the semiconductor sector with India to build a more complete and resilient semiconductor value chain.
Meanwhile, the Malaysia Advanced Semiconductor Academy (ASEM) has formed a strategic partnership with IIT Madras Global to drive high-impact collaboration and elevate Malaysia’s position in the global technology ecosystem.
