The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Pahang and Sarawak, with heavy rain and strong winds expected in both states until 1pm on Dec 12.
In Pahang, the warning covers Rompin, while in Sarawak, affected areas include Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong and Sarikei, including Pakan and Julau.
MetMalaysia said the warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
However, the department emphasised that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts and are valid for up to six hours for each issuance.
