Malaysia Penalised As FIFA Overturns Three Match Results

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has been sanctioned by the (FIFA) for fielding ineligible players, resulting in Malaysia being handed three technical 3–0 defeats in Tier 1 international matches.

FAM said the decision was made by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on 12 December, chaired by deputy chairman Jorge Palacio, after concluding that the association had breached Article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (2025 Edition).

Following the ruling, FIFA overturned Malaysia’s results against Cape Verde, Singapore and Palestine previously recorded as a draw and two wins and reclassified all three matches as 3–0 losses.

FAM was also fined CHF10,000, or about RM51,414.

The association said it will request the detailed grounds of the decision from FIFA before determining its next course of action.
