The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has issued a correction to its earlier legal reference in connection with a viral case involving the deaths of cats and dogs allegedly abandoned at a veterinary clinic in Damansara Damai.
In a statement today, DVS clarified that the correct provision is Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and not Section 112 of the Penal Code as previously stated.
“The error was unintentional, and the correction was made to ensure accurate information is conveyed to the public,” the department said.
DVS also confirmed it has received 1,920 complaints related to the case so far.
Inspections by DVS Selangor at the premises uncovered one cat carcass and one dog carcass, each found in separate cages.
The carcasses have been sent to the Central Zone Veterinary Laboratory in Salak Tinggi, Sepang, for post-mortem examinations as investigations continue.
