Selangor MB Seeks To Resolve Gombak Resettlement Issue

Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has pledged to resolve the long-standing resettlement and land alignment issues in Kampung Indian Settlement, Gombak, following a detailed engagement session with residents and authorities on Dec 18.

Amirudin said the state plans to reorganise the settlement to address years of structural problems, including homes built on road reserves and mismatched land grants — issues that have fuelled repeated flooding, poor access and legal complications for residents.

To move the plan forward, 44 affected households have agreed to vacate their properties to allow the construction of a 2.5km access road, a key component of the resettlement effort. The state will provide rental assistance during the construction period and support the rebuilding of homes aligned with proper lot boundaries.

He stressed that the resettlement push is not driven by racial or political motives, warning against attempts to distort the initiative as discrimination.

“Without intervention, the problems here will continue. This project will improve safety, infrastructure and quality of life,” he said.

Work is set to begin after Feb 1, 2026, while discussions with Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd continue to secure affordable replacement homes.

Amirudin said the state government is determined to ensure the redevelopment brings long-term stability and fairness to residents — and finally settles a decades-old dispute.
