Weather conditions across Malaysia are expected to turn severe from Dec 31, 2025 until Jan 5, 2026, following the anticipated entry of a monsoon surge, based on weather model analysis according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia).
The situation could trigger prolonged heavy rain in Sarawak, while strong winds and rough seas are expected over the South China Sea during the same period.
The department issued a Continuous Rain Warning (Alert) for Sarawak, effective from Dec 31, 2025 to Jan 1, 2026.
In addition, the strong winds and rough seas warning for the South China Sea has been updated and extended until Jan 2, 2026.
