A total of 1,348 people from 338 families are currently housed in temporary evacuation centres across Sarawak, Johor and Pahang, according to the latest update from the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) as of 12pm, Jan 2.
Sarawak remains the worst-affected state, with 1,140 evacuees from 287 families sheltered in 10 evacuation centres across Kuching, Samarahan and Lawas. Separately, Miri recorded four victims following landslides.
In Johor, the Segamat district has seen 134 evacuees from 36 families relocated to five evacuation centres.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, 74 people from 15 families are seeking refuge at one evacuation centre in Raub.
Overall, 16 temporary evacuation centres are currently operating nationwide, accommodating families displaced by floods and landslides.
NADMA said it continues to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to affected communities.
