Malaysia Opposes Use Of Force In Venezuela

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring developments in Caracas, Venezuela, following reports of security operations in the capital.

In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed Malaysia’s longstanding position opposing all forms of foreign intervention in the internal affairs of sovereign states, as well as the threat or use of force. It said these principles are fundamental to the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

“Malaysia consistently upholds the importance of the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, respect for sovereignty and adherence to international norms,” the ministry said.

At this critical juncture, Wisma Putra urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and to pursue peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation.

The ministry also emphasised that its immediate priority remains the safety and well-being of Malaysians abroad. The Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas has established contact with registered Malaysians in the country, and all confirmed registered citizens are currently safe and accounted for.

“The embassy is actively monitoring the situation on the ground and stands ready to provide the necessary consular assistance should the need arise,” the statement added.
