Proton’s e.MAS 5 has set a new record, with 3,026 units delivered in January 2026 — the strongest monthly performance ever for a single PRO-NET model. According to Malaymail, the result underlines the growing pull of Proton’s electric push.
In 2025, the e.MAS brand sold 9,549 vehicles, accounting for six per cent of Proton’s total sales and 22 per cent of Malaysia’s EV market.
Launched in October 2025 as the country’s first affordable electric vehicle, the e.MAS 5 gained traction quickly. Early demand suggested Malaysian drivers are increasingly open to switching to electric, particularly when price and everyday usability are part of the equation.
PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang called the response “extraordinary” and said the company would continue offering the RM3,000 launch rebate.
Beyond the car itself, PRO-NET is focused on building a wider EV ownership ecosystem, including charging access and ownership support, as it prepares to expand its electric line-up. The e.MAS 5 is designed with practicality in mind. It offers a WLTP range of up to 325 km, fast DC charging, and features that suit daily urban driving.
Inside, there’s a 14.6-inch FHD display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-language voice commands in English and Malay, and a live charging map via the Proton e.MAS app. Space is another strong point. The cabin delivers C-segment room, backed by a 375L boot, a 70L frunk, and plenty of storage for family use.
Ahead of launch, PRO-NET took the car on its MISI 5 tour, covering 42 locations across 13 states to give potential buyers hands-on experience with EV driving.
The brand has since widened its offering with the e.MAS 7 PHEV, Proton’s first plug-in hybrid and Malaysia’s first dual-powered EV. Priced between RM110,000 and RM130,000, it promises up to 1,065 km per tank and charge, runs in EV mode for up to 80 per cent of the time, and returns fuel consumption of 4.3L/100km.
Reservations for both the e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7 PHEV start at RM99 via the Proton e.MAS website or any of its 48 dealerships nationwide — positioning Proton firmly in the conversation as EV adoption picks up pace.
