Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad announced that it has commenced construction of a 12 megawatt-peak (MWp) ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Brunei Darussalam.
The project, located on a 26-acre site at Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK), was officially launched during a groundbreaking ceremony officiated by Brunei’s Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.
The solar facility is expected to deliver its first electricity by the end of 2026 and will exclusively supply renewable power to Hibiscus Petroleum’s Low-Pressure Compressor (LPC) facility at its Onshore Processing Plant (OPP), which will serve as the sole off-taker.
Once operational, the solar farm is anticipated to generate stable and predictable cash flows while helping reduce operational emissions and enhancing the reliability and sustainability of energy supply to the plant.
Managing Director Datuk Dr Kenneth Pereira said the project represents a significant milestone in the group’s strategy to diversify into renewable energy and strengthen its long-term earnings profile.
