EPF Acquires Nearly 5 Million Shares In Sunway REIT, Raising Stake To 15.57%

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Board has further strengthened its position as a major institutional backer of Sunway Real Estate Investment Trust (SUNREIT), according to the latest filing.

The retirement fund acquired a total of 4,997,200 units on February 13, 2026, across three different portfolios managed by Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd. Following these acquisitions, EPF’s total direct interest in one of Malaysia’s largest diversified REITs has risen to 533.17 million units, equivalent to a 15.568% stake.

This accumulation comes during a week where SUNREIT’s share price showed resilience, trading between RM2.56 and RM2.67. Institutional interest remains high following the group’s strong financial performance for the year ended December 31, 2025 (FY25).

The EPF’s move aligns with a broader trend of institutional accumulation as SUNREIT enters its payout season. The group recently announced a record-high total distribution per unit (DPU) of 14.48 sen for FY2025, driven by a 15.5% increase in Net Property Income (NPI).
