Gas Malaysia Berhad has announced the appointment of Azli bin Mohamed as its new President & Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026.
The 50-year-old veteran leader takes the helm at a pivotal moment for the group as it enters the next phase of its GM32 strategic plan, focusing on monetization and sustainable energy transition in a shifting regulatory landscape.
Azli joins Gas Malaysia with a distinguished career spanning over 20 years across the energy, aviation, and industrial sectors. He most recently served as the Managing Director of Siemens Energy Malaysia, a role that provided him with deep insights into the global energy transition and high-tech engineering.
His professional portfolio includes high-level roles at AEON Group Malaysia:as Chief Ventures and Sustainability Officer. Capital A (formerly AirAsia Group): Chief Transformation Officer. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB): Chief Strategy Officer and GE Malaysia: Chief Operating Officer.’
The Board emphasized that Encik Azli’s expertise in large-scale transformation and operational discipline will be critical for the group’s GM32 roadmap. This plan focuses on “disciplined execution” and “sustainable growth” as Malaysia moves toward a liberalized gas market and more stringent carbon reporting requirements.
He currently serving on the National Advisory Council for the United Nations Global Compact Network (UNGC) Malaysia & Brunei.
