The all-new Nissan Serena e‑POWER has officially made its debut in Malaysia, introducing the sixth generation of Nissan’s long-running mid-sized MPV. Unveiled by Edaran Tan Chong Motor at the Nissan 3S Flagship Store in Petaling Jaya, the new model brings Nissan’s latest electrified drivetrain, updated styling and expanded safety technology to a vehicle that has been a family staple since the 1990s.
At the heart of the new MPV is Nissan’s second-generation e-POWER system, delivering smooth and immediate acceleration. The wheels are powered solely by an electric motor producing 163PS and 315Nm of torque, providing smooth and responsive acceleration.
A 1.4-litre petrol engine works only as a generator, charging a lithium-ion battery and supplying energy to the motor when needed. The system removes the need for external charging while maintaining EV-like driving characteristics. Fuel consumption rates at 18.5km/L, with an estimated range of up to 1,000km per tank.
Design-wise, the new Serena presents a more modern and aerodynamic appearance. The front features Nissan’s V-Motion grille and triple-projector LED headlamps, while air curtains integrated into the bumper help improve stability and efficiency.
Along the sides, a strong shoulder line and large windows provide good outward visibility for passengers across all three rows. At the rear, boomerang-shaped LED tail lamps connected by a chrome accent give the MPV a distinctive finish.
Inside, the cabin focuses on technology and flexibility. Dual 12.3-inch displays sit at the centre of the dashboard alongside touch-sensitive climate controls and a D-cut steering wheel.
The Serena continues to prioritise practicality with 13 seating configurations, long-sliding second-row captain’s chairs and a walk-through cabin layout. Features such as hands-free sliding doors, a dual-function tailgate, USB ports on every row and a wireless charging pad add everyday convenience.
Passenger comfort has also been a major focus. Improved sound insulation and an acoustic windscreen help create a quieter cabin, while redesigned suspension and steering systems aim to reduce body roll and minimise motion sickness during travel. Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats in the front and second rows provide additional support to reduce fatigue on longer journeys, making the Serena well-suited for family road trips.
Safety remains a key focus. The Serena e-POWER includes a range of driver assistance features under Nissan’s 360° Safety Shield, such as Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and an Around View Monitor. The model also marks the Malaysian debut of Nissan ProPILOT, which combines adaptive cruise control, lane intervention and blind spot intervention to support highway driving.
Five variants are available in Peninsular Malaysia, priced from RM154,800 to RM179,800 (excluding insurance). Buyers also benefit from a five-year or 100,000km vehicle warranty, along with an eight-year or 160,000km warranty covering key e-POWER components such as the high-voltage battery and electric motor.
To mark the launch, early customers can take advantage of an introductory rebate and a complimentary accessories package, adding further appeal to Nissan’s latest family-focused MPV.
