Bursa Announces Hari Raya Break Trading Schedule Scenarios

Bursa Malaysia Berhad has released its official trading and operations schedule for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri public holiday. The exchange said the operating hours will depend on the official sighting of the moon and the subsequent announcement by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.

Due to uncertainty on which day Hari Raya might fall, Bursa has given take two potential scenarios to ensure smooth portfolio management.

If the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri is declared on Friday, March 20, 2026:

  • Thursday, March 19: Securities and derivatives markets will operate under normal trading hours. However, the T+1 Night Trading session for the derivatives market will be cancelled.
  • Friday, March 20: Bursa Malaysia and all subsidiaries will be closed.
  • Monday, March 23: Markets will resume operations as usual.
Scenario B: Eid Falls on Saturday, March 21

If the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri is declared on Saturday, March 21, 2026:

  • Friday, March 20: Securities and derivatives markets will operate under normal trading hours. The T+1 Night Trading session for the derivatives market will be cancelled.
  • Monday, March 23: Bursa Malaysia and all subsidiaries will be closed in observance of the second day of the holiday (falling on Sunday).
  • Tuesday, March 24: Markets will resume operations
