YTL AI Labs has developed a new agentic artificial intelligence model, ILMU-Nemo-30B, in collaboration with NVIDIA using NVIDIA NeMo open models.
The model is fine-tuned on Malaysian datasets and achieved a 23% improvement on the MalayMMLU benchmark, a measure of multi-domain knowledge in Bahasa Melayu and local dialects.
“The ILMU-Nemo-30B model is a testament to what can be achieved when we align global strengths with national purpose,” said Dato’ Seri Yeoh Seok Hong, Managing Director of YTL Power International Bhd.
The development leverages the secure YTL AI Cloud, ensuring data residency and protection while enhancing Malaysia’s sovereign AI capabilities. ILMU-Nemo-30B is designed for complex, agentic tasks across public services and enterprise solutions, complementing the existing ILMU multimodal model.
Foong Chee Mun, Chief Executive Officer of YTL AI Labs, highlighted that the model provides Malaysian developers and businesses with hyperlocalised tools for AI applications that address local needs.
Launched at the ASEAN AI Summit in August last year, the ILMU family of models is built on national infrastructure to support culturally attuned AI.
Several organisations, including Farben, J&C Pacific and Swipey, have already integrated the ILMU models into their applications, while ILMUchat, the conversational AI app, is available in public beta on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
