Rolls-Royce has set sail on a new wave of Bespoke design with the Cullinan Yachting, a quartet of Private Commissions celebrating the aesthetics, materials and artistry of contemporary yachting. Each motor car is anchored to one of the cardinal points — North, South, East or West — translating a maritime narrative into exquisite automotive craftsmanship.
Every Cullinan Yachting is imbued with marine-inspired luxury. Interiors feature marine-grade teak, hand-painted nautical fascias and Mediterranean wind-pattern Starlight Headliners.
The exterior finishes evoke oceanic moods: North glimmers in Crystal over Light Blue, South basks in Arabian Blue IV, East shimmers in Dark Silk Teal and West broods in Sapphire Gunmetal.
Each car carries a hand-painted compass motif on the front wings, with its corresponding direction highlighted in red, a subtle signature of the collection.
Hand-Painted Flourishes
A signature element is the bespoke hand-painted fascias and picnic tables, capturing the wake of a tender in motion. The creation process took two months of experimentation, airbrushing pigments onto wet lacquer before shaping the waves with hand brushes. Paired with the Piano Milori Sparkle metallic blue fascia and open-pore teak throughout the cabin, the interiors exude nautical authenticity and warmth. The rear Waterfall is adorned with a marquetry compass motif crafted from over 40 veneer pieces, a testament to the meticulous artistry behind each commission.
Inside, Arctic White and Navy Blue leather embraces passengers, while hand-stitched rigging patterns on the seats pay homage to nautical ropework.
Each stitch, guided by a Rolls-Royce artisan with Royal Navy heritage, mirrors the twining of ropes, a subtle nod to the structural integrity and elegance of maritime craft. Rope motifs are also featured on illuminated treadplates, visible as the coach doors swing open.
Starlight Headliner
The Cullinan Yachting also features a Starlight Headliner, hand-placed fibre-optic stars forming dynamic patterns inspired by Mediterranean wind maps. The stars subtly shift, reflecting air currents and bringing a piece of the open sea into the cabin ceiling.
Externally, each vehicle embodies its cardinal point, while 22-inch fully polished alloy wheels echo the mirror-bright fittings of luxury yachts. Hand-applied Twin Coachlines and bespoke exterior colours complete the ensemble, creating a motor car that is unmistakably Rolls-Royce yet undeniably maritime.
The Cullinan Yachting builds on over a century of Rolls-Royce’s maritime connections. From Charles Rolls’ own family yacht, the Santa Maria, to contemporary collaborations with leading yacht designers, the brand has long drawn inspiration from the sea.
Rolls-Royce design language, including the ‘waft line’ of the bodywork, mirrors yacht hulls gliding through water, a motif that runs through models from the Phantom Drophead Coupé to the Spectre and the coach built Boat Tail.
The Cullinan Yachting is more than a car; it is a voyage of a seamless blend of luxury motoring, artisanal craftsmanship and nautical elegance, where every stitch, sheen and shimmer tells a story of the open sea.
