Bintai Kinden Corporation Bhd has secured a RM44.65 million contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), marking a key milestone for the group following its exit from PN17 status and reinforcing its recovery momentum.
The contract involves asset replacement and refurbishment works, alongside the installation of a new 1x240MVA autotransformer at the PMU 275/133kV Bukit Tengah substation in Penang, with completion targeted within 730 days.
This is Bintai Kinden’s first contract from TNB post-restructuring, signalling renewed confidence in the group’s technical capabilities, execution track record and strengthened financial position.
The latest win lifts Bintai Kinden’s outstanding order book to RM199 million, providing improved earnings visibility. The group is also actively pursuing RM2.08 billion worth of tenders, reflecting a strong pipeline across the M&E and construction segments.
Managing Director and CEO Datuk Tay Chor Han said the award underscores Bintai Kinden’s turnaround after resolving past financial challenges, including the termination of multiple TNB projects in 2023.
“We have rebuilt our financial standing and operational capabilities, and are now in a strong position to deliver with excellence,” he said, adding that the group remains focused on capturing opportunities in power grid modernisation and infrastructure upgrades.
The contract win follows additional subcontract awards in Johor secured last month, further supporting Bintai Kinden’s ongoing recovery and growth trajectory.
