myNEWS Appoints Amir Nashrin Johari As Non-Executive Director

myNEWS Holdings Bhd has appointed Amir Nashrin Johari as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director effective May 1, 2026, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Amir, 32, is a Malaysian and holds a First Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom.

He started his career in financial assurance with EY Malaysia and KPMG Malaysia from 2014 to 2017, where he was involved in external audit work across multiple industries including non-profit organisations, trading, manufacturing, hospitality, banking and real estate management.

At KPMG, he also worked within the Strategy and Operations Advisory practice, supporting engagements involving economic planning, policy evaluation, corporate governance assessments and financial strategy reviews for both public- and private-sector clients.

He currently holds directorships in JAG Capital Bhd, C.I. Holdings Bhd and Central Cables Bhd. Over the past 11 years, he has gained experience across audit, consulting, private investment, technology start-ups and a listed cable manufacturing company in Melaka, with exposure to corporate finance, treasury operations, business development, asset management and accounting functions.

myNEWS said Amir is the son of the Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who has an indirect interest in the company through JAG Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd, a major shareholder of myNEWS.

The company also said it has identified a candidate for an Independent Director and will regularise its board composition within the three-month grace period allowed under Bursa Malaysia listing requirements.

In a separate development, Johari and Amir were recently reported to have emerged as the largest shareholder bloc in Media Prima Bhd, with a combined 32.96% stake, just below the 33% threshold that would trigger a mandatory general offer.
