Several areas across the east coast, Sabah and Sarawak are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 6pm on May 11, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The weather warning covers parts of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, signalling a shift from earlier clear conditions to wetter weather by evening.
In Kelantan, the affected districts include Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Pasir Puteh, while in Terengganu, the warning involves Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman.
For Pahang, the areas expected to be hit are Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin.
Several areas in Perak including Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar are also forecast to experience thunderstorms.
In Selangor, the warning covers Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Gombak and Petaling, including the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
Negeri Sembilan districts under alert are Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin, while Johor’s Mersing and Kota Tinggi are also expected to face adverse weather conditions.
In Sarawak, thunderstorms are expected in Simunjan in Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Tatau in Bintulu, Miri, Marudi and Limbang.
Sabah areas under the warning include the Interior division, parts of the West Coast covering Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran, as well as Tawau and Lahad Datu.
The Federal Territory of Labuan is also under the weather alert.
MetMalaysia advised the public to remain vigilant and monitor the latest weather updates and warnings issued by the department.
