Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2), part of KPJ Healthcare Bhd, has strengthened its women’s healthcare services through a strategic collaboration with Delta Medisains (M) Sdn Bhd to advance Southeast Asia’s first Supine High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) programme for non-invasive fibroid treatment.
The initiative positions DSH2 as the first hospital in Southeast Asia to introduce Supine HIFU technology for uterine fibroid treatment, allowing procedures to be carried out in a face-up position while maintaining precision for targeted therapy. Early clinical outcomes at the hospital have shown encouraging results for selected patients, including shorter hospital stays and faster recovery compared with conventional surgical methods.
The collaboration marks the start of a five-year programme focused on the development and wider adoption of Supine HIFU in Malaysia, alongside efforts in clinical training, technical expertise and medical education to support minimally invasive women’s healthcare services.
President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare Chin Keat Chyuan said innovation in healthcare must translate into meaningful clinical outcomes and improved patient experience.
“The Supine HIFU programme at DSH2 reflects how targeted innovation can strengthen women’s healthcare services while improving both clinical outcomes and the overall patient experience,” he said.
He added that patients are increasingly seeking treatment approaches that support faster recovery and minimal disruption to daily life, noting that healthcare innovation must remain practical and outcome driven.
Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Dr Liew Yen Eit and Dr Haliza Kamarudin are leading the programme, supported by multidisciplinary teams at DSH2.
The collaboration also comes as DSH2 continues to expand its role in women’s healthcare, following its recognition as Specialty Hospital of the Year (Women’s) – Malaysia at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026.
