Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit Perlis and several areas in Kedah until 2pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The affected areas in Kedah include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Padang Terap.
MetMalaysia said the warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms producing rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.
The department added that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts valid for a period of not more than six hours for each issuance.
