Wisma Putra Confirms Two Malaysians Affected In Philippines Building Collapse, One Safe

Wisma Putra said Malaysia is closely monitoring developments following a building collapse in the Philippine city of Angeles, north of Manila, with two Malaysians reported to be affected by the incident.

In a media advisory, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said rescue operations are currently underway at the disaster site as authorities search for individuals feared trapped beneath the rubble.

The ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the incident and said the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila is actively working with local authorities to obtain verified information on the situation.

At this stage, Wisma Putra confirmed that one of the two Malaysians affected by the collapse has been found safe.

“The Ministry is currently ascertaining the status of the second Malaysian national,” it said in the statement.

The embassy remains in close contact with Philippine authorities to monitor the well-being of the Malaysian who has been confirmed safe, while efforts continue to determine the whereabouts and condition of the second individual.

Wisma Putra said all necessary measures are also being taken to locate and establish contact with the next of kin of both Malaysians involved.
