Heavy Rain Forecast Across Several States Ahead Of Hari Raya Haji

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning for several states across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak until 6pm today.

Affected areas in the peninsula include Perlis; Kedah involving Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu; Penang’s Seberang Perai Selatan; and Perak covering Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah and Kampar.

In the east coast, the warning covers Jeli and Tanah Merah in Kelantan, as well as Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu.

In Pahang, affected areas are Cameron Highlands, Lipis and Kuantan.

Meanwhile, Selangor areas under alert include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Petaling, alongside the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

In Sarawak, the warning involves Bau and Kuching in Kuching division, Serian, Samarahan, as well as Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi in Miri division.

Sabah areas affected include Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Tambunan in the Interior division; the West Coast; Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu in Tawau division; Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan in Sandakan division; as well as Kudat and Labuan.

MetMalaysia said the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
