Chanel Is Bringing Its First-Ever Australian Runway Show To Sydney

Chanel is heading to Sydney this November for its first-ever runway show in Australia, putting the city firmly in the global luxury fashion spotlight.

The French fashion house will restage its Cruise 2027 collection on 5 November, bringing to Australian shores the collection that creative director Matthieu Blazy first unveiled in Biarritz, France, earlier this year. It’s a significant moment not only for Chanel, but also for Australia’s fashion industry, with Sydney joining a select list of international destinations chosen to host one of the brand’s travelling runway events.

The collection takes its cues from coastal living, featuring marine-inspired details, beach stripes and easy silhouettes. That seaside influence makes Sydney a fitting choice, with Chanel describing the city as a natural extension of the collection’s themes of movement, travel and discovery. The exact venue is yet to be announced.

While the show will revisit a collection that has already debuted, Chanel’s travelling presentations are rarely simple reruns. The brand is known for tailoring these events to their host city through unique staging, local cultural partnerships and guest lists that blend international names with local talent.

Sydney now joins cities including Singapore, Dubai, Miami, Shenzhen and Seoul, which have previously hosted Chanel’s touring Cruise presentations. The move reflects Australia’s growing importance to the luxury market, as well as Chanel’s expanding presence in the region.

The connection between Chanel and Australia has become increasingly visible in recent years. Australian stars including Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi and Nicole Kidman have all played prominent roles in campaigns and ambassador partnerships, helping strengthen the brand’s profile locally and internationally.

The runway announcement also follows Chanel’s continued investment in Australia, including the opening of its largest local boutique in Sydney and plans to reopen its Melbourne store. For the brand, the Sydney showcase is both a fashion event and a signal of confidence in the Australian market.
