Malaysia has introduced its first mechanised tree care handler, a move expected to improve safety and efficiency in urban landscaping and tree maintenance operations.
The SENNEBOGEN 718 E was deployed by AD Euroasia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Al Dar Resources Sdn Bhd, making it the first machine of its kind in both Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Traditionally, tree cutting and landscape management in Malaysia rely on multiple machines and large work crews. According to Al Dar Resources, the new machine reduces manpower requirements by half while consolidating several tasks into a single piece of equipment.
Land Surveyor Fuad Abdul Kadir said operations that previously required at least 10 workers and three machines, including a skylift, crane and backhoe, can now be carried out using a single machine and a smaller crew.
The 21.4-tonne handler is equipped with a 13-metre telescopic boom and grapple saw attachment, enabling operators to cut, move and stack tree sections while working safely around power lines and telecommunications cables.
The machine’s compact design also reduces disruption to traffic. With a maximum width of 3.9 metres and a tight slewing radius, operators can often close only one lane instead of an entire road during maintenance work.
AD Euroasia said the introduction of mechanised tree care technology aligns with its efforts to modernise urban landscaping operations and improve workplace safety.
Widely used in North America and Europe, the SENNEBOGEN 718 E is expected to demonstrate how tree maintenance can be carried out more efficiently while reducing risks associated with manual cutting methods and falling branches.
