The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Perlis, parts of Kedah and Selangor until 12 noon today.
The affected areas in Kedah are Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Padang Terap, while in Selangor the warning covers Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor.
MetMalaysia said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in the affected areas during the warning period.
The agency said a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour that are imminent or expected to last for more than an hour.
The warning is a short-term advisory and is valid for a period not exceeding six hours from the time it is issued.
