Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading this morning, with Seremban reaching 186 as 37 monitoring stations nationwide registered unhealthy air quality as of 9:18 am on Oct 9.
According to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Melaka recorded two of the next-highest readings, with Bukit Rambai and Bandaraya Melaka both registering 184. Nilai in Negeri Sembilan recorded 183, matching the reading at Segamat in Johor, while Johan Setia in Selangor also registered 183.
Johor had six stations in the unhealthy category, including Pasir Gudang and Tangkak at 181 each, Kluang at 176, Larkin at 173, Pengerang at 171, Batu Pahat at 169 and Kota Tinggi at 166.
In Selangor, Shah Alam recorded an API of 178, followed by Petaling Jaya at 169, Banting at 168, Klang at 167 and Kuala Selangor at 151. Kuala Lumpur registered readings of 171 at Batu Muda and 170 at Cheras, while Putrajaya also recorded 170.
Perak reported unhealthy readings at Tasek Ipoh (178), Tanjung Malim (173), Pegoh Ipoh (172), Seri Manjung (159) and Taiping (128). In Pahang, Rompin recorded 170, Indera Mahkota Kuantan 162 and Temerloh 154.
The unhealthy readings also extended to Kedah, Penang and Terengganu. Sungai Petani and Alor Setar recorded 157 and 153, respectively, while Penang stations registered 153 at Minden, 152 at Seberang Jaya and 119 at Seberang Perai. Kemaman in Terengganu recorded 153.
The APIMS dashboard showed 37 of 68 monitoring stations in the unhealthy category, defined as API readings between 101 and 200, while the remaining 31 stations recorded moderate levels. No stations registered good, very unhealthy, hazardous or unavailable readings at the time of the update.
