Netflix’s New Spy Comedy Pairs Henry Cavill With Kevin Hart

Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart are teaming up for a new untitled spy comedy at Netflix, and it’s one of those pairings that doesn’t immediately make sense on paper. That’s exactly the point. The streaming platform is banking on the contrast: Cavill’s straight-faced action-hero energy against Hart’s fast-paced comedy style.

The story centres on two rival spies whose professional and personal lives unexpectedly collide. Early plot details reveal they first meet in a Lamaze class after their wives become friends.

What starts as an awkward connection quickly develops into a reluctant partnership, as their double lives begin to overlap. The film leans into an odd-couple setup, mixing spy operations with domestic pressures, including the challenges of impending fatherhood.

Behind the scenes, Netflix has lined up a heavy-hitting creative team. McG is directing, with a script from Adam and Aaron Nee alongside Jonathan Tropper, based on a short story by Sean Lewis. Production comes from 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, Maximum Effort led by Ryan Reynolds, and Kevin Hart’s own Hartbeat banner.

For Cavill, this continues his ongoing run with Netflix following The Witcher and the Enola Holmes films. Hart also remains a regular on the platform, with recent projects including Lift, Me Time, The Man From Toronto and Fatherhood. Both actors are juggling multiple major projects outside the streamer as well, keeping them firmly in the global spotlight.

No release date or official title has been confirmed. The film is expected to move forward once production timelines are finalised, adding another high-profile entry to Netflix’s expanding slate of action-comedy originals.
