The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Johor and Sarawak, with heavy rain and strong winds expected until 11am today.
In Johor, the affected districts are Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.
In Sarawak, the warning covers Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu and Miri (Subis).
MetMalaysia said the warning was issued following indications of thunderstorms capable of producing rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, either occurring or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The agency noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories and remain valid for a maximum of six hours from the time of issuance.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and stay updated on the latest weather developments.
