RIMOWA is back in the kids’ travel space with a fresh update to its Essential Lite Cabin U Kids Edition, and it’s clearly aimed at making family travel a bit more fun and a lot more organised.
The 2026 update introduces two new colours — Bee Yellow and Frog Green — continuing the brand’s push into bold, nature-inspired tones. They follow last year’s Starfish orange and Scuba turquoise, but this time the focus is on brighter, high-visibility shades that are easy to spot and designed to appeal to younger travellers.
The suitcase itself hasn’t changed in structure. It remains built from a lightweight polycarbonate shell, weighing just 4.4 lbs and measuring 20 x 14 x 7.9 inches, making it cabin-friendly for most short-haul trips. The idea is simple: keep it light enough for kids to handle, but tough enough to survive regular travel.
Inside, the setup stays deliberately straightforward. A zipped mesh divider keeps clothes and essentials in place, while a small interior pocket holds smaller items such as travel toys or accessories. The design keeps packing organised without overcomplicating things for children.
Movement plays a key role in the design. RIMOWA’s Multiwheel® system allows the case to glide smoothly, while a three-stage telescopic T-bar handle adjusts to different heights. In practice, this means children can pull or push the suitcase easily through airports without constant adjustments from parents.
To make things more personal, each suitcase comes with a 24-piece sticker set themed around travel, animals and nature. It’s a small addition, but it gives kids a way to customise their own luggage and make it instantly recognisable.
RIMOWA also positions the Kids Edition as a long-term buy rather than a seasonal purchase. It comes with a lifetime guarantee covering functional damage, supported by repair services and client support. That puts it firmly in the premium luggage category, even for children’s travel gear.
The Essential Lite Cabin U Kids Edition is RM3,350. It’s not a budget option, but it’s aimed at families looking for durability, brand design, and something that can handle multiple holidays rather than just one school break.
