Bursa Extends Gains At Midday As Wall Street Rally Lifts Sentiment

Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at midday of June 12, buoyed by improved investor sentiment after a strong overnight rebound on Wall Street, although broader market participation stayed mixed.

At 12:30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 1.44 points, or 0.09%, to 1,680.97 from its close of 1,679.53 on June 11.

Despite the benchmark index’s gains, market breadth remained negative, with losers outnumbering gainers 481 to 435. A total of 516 counters were unchanged, 1,271 untraded and 33 suspended.

Among the biggest decliners, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd fell 38 sen to RM20.56, Paragon Union Bhd lost 27 sen to RM4.39, while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd slipped 16 sen to RM5.64. United Plantations Bhd and Vitrox Corporation Bhd also shed 16 sen each to RM31.44 and RM7.12, respectively.

On the upside, Nestlé (M) Bhd led the gainers, climbing 96 sen to RM95.46. Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd advanced 76 sen to RM26.56, while Petronas Dagangan Bhd gained 56 sen to RM18.28. Concrete Engineering Product Bhd and Allianz Malaysia Bhd added 36 sen and 34 sen to RM4.39 and RM20.90, respectively.

Trading activity remained healthy, with turnover reaching 1.71 billion shares valued at RM1.06 billion.

As for the actively traded counters, Zetrix AI Bhd led the rally, rising half a sen to 81.5 sen with 56.12 million shares traded. Top Glove Corporation Bhd slipped two sen to 81 sen, while Mega Fortris Bhd eased two sen to RM1.59. VS Industry Bhd and Velesto Energy Bhd were unchanged at 20 sen and 30 sen, respectively, with both counters among the market’s busiest stocks.

The benchmark index’s resilience reflected improving risk appetite among investors despite a broader market that remained cautious ahead of fresh economic and corporate catalysts.
