MOE Checking On Alleged School Set Up By Rohingya Community

The Education Ministry (MOE) is looking into allegations that a school operated by the Rohingya community is running in Kuala Terengganu, amid concerns over compliance with national education laws.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said all educational institutions in Malaysia must comply with the Education Act and cannot be established or operated without prior approval from the relevant authorities.

“The establishment of any school is subject to the Education Act, and naturally, no school can be set up without prior approval,” he said, while emphasising that the ministry continuously monitors compliance with education regulations to ensure all learning institutions operate within established legal frameworks.

Wong was responding to reports alleging the existence of a school linked to the Rohingya community in Kampung Ladang Titian, Kuala Terengganu, which has reportedly raised concern among local residents since February.

He added that the matter would be left to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
